A series of severe storms and tornadoes tore across Oklahoma on Saturday, leaving behind a trail of destruction and killing at least four people.

Gov. Kevin Stitt declared a state of emergency in 12 counties after the storms, which brought high winds, hail, and multiple tornadoes.

The town of Sulphur in eastern Oklahoma was particularly hard hit. Video of the aftermath showed flattened homes and overturned vehicles. The Oklahoma emergency management office said 100 injuries had been reported as a result of the storms.

The National Weather Service confirmed that at least two tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma on Saturday.

One tornado formed 4 miles northeast of Sulphur in Murray County and moved to the north-northwest for 12 miles before lifting 5 miles south of Stratford in Carter County.

Another tornado formed near Wynnewood in Garvin County and moved to the northeast for 10 miles before lifting 4 miles northeast of Pauls Valley in McClain County.

The storms are a reminder of the importance of being prepared for severe weather. Residents of Oklahoma should monitor local weather forecasts and be prepared to take shelter if a tornado warning is issued.
