Dubai Floods: Year's Worth of Rain Triggers Flash Flooding, Halting Airport Operations

Homes, Businesses Inundated as Roads Turn into Rivers

Deadly Deluge Kills 70-Year-Old Man

Unprecedented rainfall has unleashed devastating flash flooding in Dubai, transforming roads into raging rivers and inundating homes and businesses with water. The deluge, which dumped a year's worth of rain in just a matter of hours, has brought the city to a standstill.

Cars have been abandoned on flooded streets, while residents have been forced out of their waterlogged homes. The storm has also caused significant damage to businesses, with stores and offices closed for the day.

The flooding has also claimed a life, with a 70-year-old man drowning after his vehicle was swept away by the floodwaters in Ras Al Khor.

Dubai International Airport, the world's second-busiest airport and a major hub for long-haul flights to Asia, has been forced to suspend operations due to flooding on the runways and access roads.

The storm is part of a wider weather system that has been affecting the Gulf region over the past few days. Heavy rainfall has also been reported in Oman and Iran, with further flooding and disruption expected.
